Full Description: Location: 90 km from Varna airport. The artificial lake “Onogur” is located on the main highway connecting Dobrich and Silistra. It is located in the bed of “Suha reka” which used to be the biggest river in the region. The total area of the lake is about 600 000-sq. m.(aprox. 6 458 500 sq. ft).The dam of the lake is 200 m high. The average depth of the lake is 2.5 m. The maximum depth is 9 m. The pond is located in ecologically clean environment and is one of the few places in Bulgaria where rare animals, such as snake eagle, otter, bearded ossifrage and black storks, can be seen. There are two strongholds and cave monastery. There are also two caves listed in the international book for cultural and historical landmarks. The lake is property of “Kirman” ltd since 2000 and the concession is signed in 2001. There are 9 ponds designed specially for breeding of fish with total area 30 000 sq. m. There are 5 bungalows nearby the lake, all communication included, electrical and water supply. There is opportunity for buying land (about 150 lv per 1000 sq.m) and building something like country club for tourists. There are good conditions to breed horses and afterwards using them as attraction for the tourists coming to the artificial lake. Nearby the pond there are forests with a lot of wild animals which is good for making hunting tourism. The cave monastery is premise for religious tourism. The remains of the strongholds are precondition for developing architectural and historical tourism. Some of the birds are very rare (snake eagle, bearded ossifrage, black storks). Bird watching tourism can take place during the whole year. The surrounding and the climate in the region are perfect for growing fruit-tree gardens and vegetable gardens. There is a program in Bulgaria called SAPARD. “Kirman” Ltd has all the documents needed for taking loan from it. The loan is for improving overall infrastructure. The lake is being breaded for three years. There was NO industrial fishing. During the fishing season there is a tax for fishery. The income for one season from fishery taxes are 30 000 lv (15 300EUR). The concession for the lake is for 25 years (for the period 2001-2026). There is paragraph in the concession contract that states that the contract can be resigned without going to auction. The annual concession fee used to be 10 200 lv(5 230EUR) and since January 2005 is 5 200 lv( 2 660 EUR). There is constant flow of fresh water in the artificial lake and vegetable life used by the fish for food. There is no need of feeding the fish with something else. All of the fish species were taken from “The National Institute for Fishing Material” located in the city of Plovdiv. The following table represents the current presence of fish. The maximum annual capacity for industrial fishing can be more than 500 000 kg. With proper management, planning and analyzing this property can generate solid income.
