ROCKER Rod Stewart has revealed he'd love to buy a castle in his "spiritual" home of Scotland.

The singer, who was given a CBE in the New Year Honours list, was born in London but because of his Scots dad is a huge fan of all things Scottish.

He supports Celtic, wears tartan and last year had his youngest child, Alastair, christened in Edinburgh.

There are rumours he will wed fiancee Penny Lancaster at Archerfield House near Edinburgh as early as Spring of this year and he will also play a gig at Hampden Park in July.

The 61-year-old, who was born in Highgate, said: "I see these wonderful castles, its a romantic notion. When I move back to Britain, which will be in the next 10 or 12 years, then I probably will move to Scotland, it's my spiritual home."

If he does buy a castle, he'd join Billy Connelly, who bought Candacraig House, near the village of Strathdon in Aberdeenshire in 1998, and last year sold his Hollywood mansion, making the Scots home his permanent base.

Rod, who kicks off his world tour next Friday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has also been making sure the huge tour which doesn't finish until July, won't get in the way of his biggest passion - Celtic.

He said: "I've worked it so if Celtic do win the SPL title that I want to be there on the last day to see them pick up the trophy. I missed it last year, so I've worked it so I can be there this year."

Rod also admitted during a Real Radio interview that despite his years, the prospect of a huge tour was exciting.

He said: "I'm like a kid, I just can't wait, I'm counting down the days, I love getting up and singing."

Rod was "overjoyed" when he heard about his CBE given for services to music after five decades in the business.

He has sold more than 200 million records and is one of the biggestselling British artists of all time.

He has enjoyed 62 hit singles - 24 top 10 hits and six No.1s - and in 1989, he received a Grammy Living Legend Award
