Velislava Dareva - Mrs. Dareva, is the scandal in the Ministry of Interior political?
- The scandal is historical and we have been living with it for 19 years now. In Bulgaria there is a parallel power, a parallel state. Politicians, people from the underworld, prosecutors, lawyers, investigators and journalists are involved in it. The true Bulgarian state is managed by that parallel power, which is absolutely out of control and rules both politics and economy. The process in the Ministry of Interior would have been healthy if it had started from inside, by the ministry itself or by the government. But it began from an intelligence technique, which general Atanas Atanasov by the time hasn't placed at anyone's disposal.
- Is there a chance for the government to fall?
- The government would not fall if it takes a firm position based on principles, if the State Agency for National Security carries out the investigation. One of the possible way-outs from the crisis lies in the personal decision of Rumen Petkov.
- What is going to happen from now on?
- What is needed are decisive actions with no exception for anyone. Everybody who has broken the law, regardless of the position in the hierarchy, should assume responsibility.
